San Jose del Pacifico

We had a great time in SJdP and were lucky to be with Carlos, whose family is from there. Carlos's aunt & family own a restaurant and we ate there for breakfast and dinner on our first day.
Me, David, Carlos. Note the mushroom kitsch in the background.

Yummy Oaxacan chocolate con leche.

Breakfast of quesadilla - on giant Oaxacan tortillas. Apparently the restaurant's signature is serving a radish with every dish, as we got them at dinner too. Only Carlos ate his.

SJdP is known for being one of the places to find hallucinogenic (Psilocybic) mushrooms and as a result has a funny backpacker vibe, with lots of mushroom motifs in the restaurants, etc. (We saw about a dozen mushroom lamps during our stay.) The season is July/August so the town was very quiet for our visit.
The mushrooms - does not look like something you would want to eat!
