Land of Enchantment

We had a whirlwind weekend in ABQ to attend one of TD's friend's weddings. We had a lot of fun despite chilly weather & TD's back not feeling great. (We had to leave the Rattlesnake Museum so that he could go lie down, which if you know TD, means it was pretty serious!)

The weekend kicked off with a welcome dinner at the Children's Museum. There was a great rooftop patio & dinner was fajitas from Taco Cabana (TD's and my favorite) and there was even an ice cream bar. A big thunderstorm had just blown through (including hail) and it was really chilly & windy outside. Thankfully we could take refuge inside and enjoy the mariachi's.

These guys were great - even if they did have to stand practically in the bathroom (the acoustics were awesome though!)

The Bride's heritage is Chinese-Hispanic and she wore a beautiful red gown during the very traditional catholic ceremony.

There was an impromptu receiving line after the ceremony - they both looked so happy!

The Church had lots of Southwestern accents - the stations of the cross had prickly pear cactus in the background.

This little guy was adorable - there were lots of kids at the wedding.

The reception was at the beautiful Los Poblanos organic farm. I've been coming to ABQ for years and never knew this spot on the NW side of town existed.

The Hacienda was gorgous - just how I'd like my imaginary future home to look.

There was a lovely cocktail hour under the arbor with Lavender Agave margaritas - yum!

The lovely bride and groom in their second (his) and third (hers) outfits.

Dinner was wonderful with local beer & wines, cornish hen & beef tenderloin all served family style. We had fun meeting friends of the couple from far & wide. The couple on the far side of the table are rural doctors in Southeast Alaska - they had some interesting stories!

But, at the end of the night, once all the cake & booze is gone, all the kiddos have gone to bed, when no one is dancing anymore, but the bride & groom haven't left so you don't feel you can leave either....what to do?

Throw the groom in the pool!

But he didn't go down without a fight...

Now, that's a way to end a wedding! (And I am thankful my husband didn't have anything to do with pool-throwing other than taking the photos!)

  1. The last wedding I attended in ABQ featured the wedding party, bride/groom, and all the guests out on the Southwest Mesa with no cover on the top of an inactive volcano... CUE HAILSTORM. It was insanity.

And I love Los Poblanos! I was a member of their CSA when I lived there. Glad you had a great weekend!
